Dalvík is a community with a population of 2000 in northern Eyjafjörður fjord, its centre is the town of Dalvík. The district has a lot to offer the tourist in winter as well as summer. The natural beauty of Tröllaskagi is well known, long, deep and green valleys between high (1.200-1.400 meters) mountains give a great opportunity for hiking in summer and cross country skiing in winter. The bird life in Svarfaðadalur Nature Reserve is especially rich in species such as waterfowl, gees, ducks and waders. There is excellent fishing booth in the sea and in rivers and lakes. In autumn the mountains are covered with wild blueberries and crowberries.
